We recently received an email from a young mother about a scary ordeal she experienced. She said:

I was driving home with my toddler and baby when I slid and was on the edge of an embankment. I was worried I would roll my car if I let off the pedal or moved the wheel so I just kept still. My mom was behind me and was able to get my baby out of the car when a guy pulled up and asked how he could help. He grabbed some straps and he and some other co-workers came and helped pull me out. One of the guys gave me his jacket to keep warm and continued to help get my car out in a short sleeve shirt. It was a Friday after 4:30 p.m. and they were headed home from work but took the time to help me. They were employees of Knife River and were so kind and generous. I was so worried about my babies and I’m thankful they were willing to help me quickly and with so much kindness!

We were able to track down the guys – Kyle Gubler, Johnathan Barron, Andy Vegas and Sean Adams – and surprised them for Feel Good Friday. Watch the video in the player above!

A few days ago, a Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputy who works in the Bonneville County Courthouse did something that impressed us. Kaitlyn Hart, one of our reporters, walked into the courthouse and Deputy Hall told her he had a $5 bill that was hers.

Unbeknownst to Kaitlyn, she had dropped the money weeks earlier. Deputy Hall found the cash and reviewed security camera footage to find out who it belonged to. Rather than keeping the money or giving it to someone else, he held onto it until Kaitlyn was back at the courthouse.

Deputy Hall didn’t do this for recognition but we felt he should be honored for our first Feel Good Friday of the year. We went back to the courthouse for the big surprise! Check out the video in the player above.

We recently received an email about a couple living outside of Blackfoot who has been a big help. Here’s what it said:

JoBeth and LaVar have been the best neighbors, but really stood up and helped as my husband has had to deal with some serious health issues. JoBeth is 88 and LaVar is 90. As my husband has not been able to do very much around the house since last December, LaVar cleared the driveway from snow several times. Then, over the summer, he came and mowed the lawn! We didn’t ask for any of this! He just saw a need and did it. JoBeth would take care of our garbage can and make sure it was off the street. As I said, they are the best neighbors anyone could ask for. It would sure be nice if they could be surprised for Feel Good Friday, even just to show that no matter the age, anyone can make a difference in our community.

We decided to surprise JoBeth and LaVar to thank them for Feel Good Friday! Check out the video in the player above.

A few weeks ago, 10-year-old Zayden was at the gym with his grandfather when his grandpa passed out. Zayden yelled for help, called his grandmother and remained calm during the stressful situation.

Grandpa ended up being ok and Zayden was a hero of the day with the way he handled the situation. Even though he was very upset, his actions helped his grandfather very much.

We decided to honor Zayden for his actions and surprised him for Feel Good Friday. Check out the video in the player above.

We recently received an email about a retired school secretary who is volunteering to help keep kids fed. It said:

Patrice was the school secretary at AH Bush Elementary School in Idaho Falls when she became involved in the school pantry. She is always running here or there to see that all the kids in the surrounding area are blessed with some food. She is an amazing person who should be recognized for her desire to see the smiles on the faces of everyone she works so hard for.

We did some checking and found out that Patrice has spent hundreds of hours over the years keeping the pantry running. We decided to surprise her for Feel Good Friday. Check out the video in the player above!

We recently received an email about a group of 6th graders from Hillview Elementary School who made a big difference during a pickleball game. It said:

A group of our friends (from St. Anthony) recently met at McCowin pickleball courts. When we took the court, we could see we were going to have an audience. They had a fall pumpkin activity for the sixth graders. At first we thought we should go to a different park. We started playing and these kids were the cutest nicest kids! They quickly took sides with my 80-year-old mom. They cheered her on and the chanted her name – named their team and clapped and cheered and encouraged. Then when it was over the asked for autographs on cups, leaves, papers, etc. No bad language, just positive and encouraging. The 80-year-old felt like a gold medalist. We would love to recognize their good works and example. They changed our days, weeks and months. They made us feel good about the future and the youth. What a good bunch of kids.

We decided to visit the kids and thank them for what they did. Watch the surprise in the video player above!

We are proud to honor veterans this month and we recently learned about a Sugar City native named Nyle Garn who has lived a fulfilled life. Nyle served in the US Army from 1958-1960 and was then recalled from 1961-1962. He returned to eastern Idaho and he and his wife went on to have six kids, 31 grandkids and 38 great-grandchildren.

Nyle is now on hospice and we wanted to thank him for all he’s done with the help of the musical group GENTRI. We arranged a surprise with his family but Nyle had no idea we were about to show up and leave him with a special song and some gifts. Watch the video in the player above!
