Conally Wayne Decker

February 26th, 1947 - December 14th, 2023

Conally (Con) Wayne Decker passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14th in his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the age of 76. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Con was born to Melvin (Ted) Earle Decker and Betty-Lou Decker on the 26th of February in 1947 in Rigby Idaho. He was the second of five children, including his older brother, Don, younger brother, Steve, and younger sisters, Jackie and Laurie. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints his whole life; baptized and confirmed at the age of 8 in 1955.

Throughout his lifetime, Conally had a great appreciation for the outdoors and passion as a sportsman. He liked camping, hunting, motorbiking, snowmobiling, and especially loved fishing. But most of all, he enjoyed sharing these experiences with those he cared for. It is impossible to count the number of people he taught to hook a worm, cast a line, and reel in a trout. And then there was the golf course. This was another outdoor activity he enjoyed sharing with others. However, it can be said that his skills in this arena were not quite on par with his aptitude as a hunter, regardless of what the scorecard may have been notated!

Con graduated from Rigby High School in 1965 at the age of 18 and went on to attend Idaho State University, earning an Associates Degree after two years. Thus began an adventure in the workforce where he would learn skills in numerous different career paths. In October of 1967, he married Judith Yates of Rigby, Idaho with whom he would father his four boys; Randall Wayne, Corey Harper, Nathan Jack, and Jared Yates. This chapter in his life took him from Rigby to Salt Lake City, Utah; Idaho Falls, Idaho; and eventually Beaverton, Oregon where he raised his family. Here he explored a new passion in photography while maintaining his love of the outdoors, which he instilled in his children.

During this time, he served his community and church in many different roles. Most notably, he was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America fostering the skills of young men in the very environment that he most appreciated. His first marriage ended at the turn of the millennium, where he found himself back in Salt Lake City once again. At this point, Con sought a new path with Shauna Hodges whom he married in September of 2001. Their time together took him back to his hometown of Rigby and eventually ended in divorce.

Then, Conally met Allie Jo (AJ) Lowquaniotiz who brought new meaning to his life. The two were married in April of 2015 and he spent the remainder of his years filled with the love they shared for one another. In this final chapter of his life, Conally continued to expand his portfolio of career experiences and brought his passion and knowledge of the outdoors to an expanded group of family members. AJ and Con traveled through a lifetime of memories together, cherishing the history of one another while simultaneously strengthening the bonds of everyone they had become connected to in the time before their paths had crossed. He left this world with an unmistakable knowledge that he was loved and that he loved us as well.

Conally was preceded in death by his mother Betty-Lou, his father Ted, step mother Bonnie, two of his sons, Corey and Nathan, and a great-grandson, Damon. He is survived by his wife, AJ, mother Edna Poe (Nana), as well as his children, Randall and Jared Decker, Wendy Waters and Cory South; numerous nieces and nephews, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

There will be a Viewing at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main St in Rigby, ID at 6:00pm on Wednesday, December 20th and a Funeral on Thursday, December 21st at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1660 12th St, Idaho Falls, ID starting with a Viewing at 11:30am, followed by a Service at 1:00pm and Burial at 2:30pm, Grant Cemetery, 154 N 3300 E in Rigby, ID.
