Lynn Stocks Bennett

August 4th, 1938 - December 30th, 2023









Lynn Stocks Bennett, 85, of Ririe, Idaho, peacefully passed away at home on December 30, 2023 surrounded by family.

Lynn was born on August 4, 1938 in Winder, Idaho. He was the son of Floyd Alton Bennett and Barbara Stocks Bennett. Lynn graduated from Preston High School in 1956 and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Music Education from Utah State University.

Lynn and Del Rae Bennett were married September 21, 1956 in the Logan Temple. Lynn and Del Rae had four children: Larry Lynn Bennett, Robert Guy Bennett, Lisa Bennett, and Michelle Bennett Smith. They also have nine grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Lynn’s wife, Del Rae, passed away in 1997. Lynn and Alice (Harris) Bennett married April 22, 2000. They enjoyed 23 years together until Alice passed away July 13, 2023.

Lynn was an amazing musician and music teacher. He had a beautiful singing voice, and often entertained the grandchildren with his fun songs. He taught High School music for 40 years. His music groups received many Superior awards. His love for music was inspired by his parents and he passed on this legacy to his children and grandchildren.

Lynn is survived by his siblings: Carolyn (Ed) Crawford, Launa (Rodney) Vaterlaus, and Wally (Carolyn) Bennett; children: Larry (Janelle) Bennett, Robert (Melanie) Bennett, and Michelle (Clinton) Smith; grandchildren: Jason, Matthew, Andrea, Chari, Jennifer, R.J., Nicholas, Taylor, Katie, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Lynn is preceded in death by his second wife Alice, brother Eugene, parents Floyd and Barbara, first wife Del Rae, and a daughter Lisa.

Funeral Services for Lynn will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Perry LDS Ward Building in Ririe. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Friday night viewing from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Preston Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful care givers at Hospice of Eastern Idaho and Visiting Angels of Idaho Falls.
